Empowering Lives, Transforming Communities
Pelings Foundation’s “Empowering Through Footwear” program offers a comprehensive solution to address the challenges faced by disadvantaged groups in Kenya. By investing in skill development, mentorship, and charitable shoe provision, we aim to create a lasting impact on individuals and communities, fostering self-reliance, economic growth, and social justice. Together, we can step toward a brighter future for Kenya, one shoe at a time

Empowerment is the key to unlocking human potential and creating lasting change

OUR MISSION

OUR GOALS
Our program sets ambitious goals
To train a minimum of 50 youths annually in leather and leather products skills, enabling them to establish businesses and guiding them for three years
To provide at least 20,000 pairs of school shoes to needy learners each year
To motivate disadvantaged learners across Kenya to excel academically, with multiple shoe workshops producing "Made in Kenya" shoes
PRODUCT RANGE
Our product range includes various types of shoes, leather school bags, safety shoes, riders' boots, security boots, military boots, police shoes, police boots, sports shoes, wallets, belts, safari boots, and leather gloves. These products are made with a focus on quality, durability, and comfort.
CHALLENGES ADDRESSED
Skills Gap: Few individuals in Kenya possess proper shoe and leather-making skills, leading to a lack of quality products even among those trained informally
Access Barriers: Disadvantaged individuals often lack access to training opportunities due to financial constraints and rejection by trainers
Business Hurdles: Entrepreneurs who set up shoe-making businesses face difficulties related to business skills, market access, and product quality.
Government Decree: A government decree to halt all shoe imports by 2025 presents both a challenge and an opportunity, highlighting the need for well-trained artisans.
Lack of Shoes: More than 30% of underprivileged school-going children attend classes without shoes, leading to various foot-related conditions, diseases, and diminished morale
What Make Us Different

Innovative Design
Our design process begins with a focus on both aesthetics and utility. We employ creative designers who develop visually appealing and ergonomically sound designs for our footwear and leather products. This includes paying attention to color schemes, patterns, and overall product aesthetics.

User-Centric Approach
Functionality is at the core of our design philosophy. We prioritize the comfort, safety, and durability of our products to ensure they meet the practical needs of our customers. For instance, our school shoes are designed with memory foam padding for added comfort, and our safety boots are built to meet stringent safety standards

Materials Selection
We carefully select materials that strike a balance between creativity and functionality. High-quality leather, textiles, and other components are chosen not only for their aesthetic appeal but also for their durability and suitability for the intended purpose of each product.

Adherence to Standards
At Pelings Foundation, we take quality control seriously. Our production processes are designed to meet and exceed industry standards, including both national (KEBS) and international (ISO) standards. This commitment ensures that our products are safe, reliable, and of high quality

Become the One Who is Considered a Hero
In 2022, the Pelings Foundation initiated a free program to train disadvantaged individuals in leather shoe and leather product-making skills. Ten youths completed this program and were released to seek employment or establish their own businesses. In our current program launched in June 2023, we continue to empower disadvantaged individuals. Our current trainees will receive assistance in setting up workshops, business guidance, and training in manufacturing leather shoes, bags, wallets, and belts
